Yuki Midorikawa’s Natsume’s Book of Friends is returning for the fifth time, and this will be announced by the upcoming May 2016 issue of Hakusensha’s Monthly LaLa magazine, which will be celebrating the new TV anime with a color opening page, as well as a 46-page long chapter.
According to the announcement, this 5th season will be airing this Fall 2016 season, with the main animation staff returning to the series. Takahiro Omori will the chief director of the series, with studio Shuka handling the animation production. Kotomi Deal, who served as an episode director for season 4, is now the anime’s director, with Sadayuki Murai returning to once again handle the series composition. Akira Takata will handle the character design, while the youkai will be designed by Tatsuo Yamada.
This will be the first new season for the series since 2012, which featured the anime’s 4th season. More announcements about season 5 of Natsume’s Book of Friends will be made in the future.
