After-school clubs are a huge part of any student’s school life, whether he/she is part of a sports club, a culture club, or the going home club, and this is especially true in anime. For this week’s poll, Charapedia has asked 10,000 anime (44.3% male, 55.7% female) fans on which anime school club would they want to join. Of the 67 clubs included in the poll, only the Top 20 were announced, and they are:
20 – Teiko Middle School Basketball Club (Kuroko’s Basketball)
19 – Seidou High Baseball Club (Ace of Diamond)
18 – Nekoma High Volleyball Club (Haikyuu!!)
17 – Samezuka Academy Swimming Club (FREE!)
16 – Shuutoku High Basketball Club (Kuroko’s Basketball)
15 – Houshinoumi High School Student Council (Charlotte)
14 – Honan Stride Club (Prince of Stride)
13 – Seirin High Basketball Club (Kuroko’s Basketball)
12 – Megurigaoka Private High School School Living Club (School Live!)
11 – Ouran High Host Club (Ouran High Host Club)
10 – Kamiyama High School Classic Literature Club (Hyouka)
9 – Sket Dan (Sket Dance)
8 – Otonokizaka High School Idol Research Club (Love Live!)
7 – St. Chronica’s Academy Neighbors Club (Haganai)
6 – The S.O.S. Brigade (The Haruhi Suzumiya series)
5 – Nanamori Middle School Amusement Club (YuruYuri)
4 – Iwatobi High Swim Club (Free!)
3 – Karasuno High Volleyball Club (Haikyuu!!)
2 – Sakuragaoka High School Light Music Club/ Houkago Tea Time (K-On!)
1 -Sobu High School Service Club (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU!)
The club where the lovable bitter-bitter-sweet trio from My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU! has been voted #1 by the fans, and it’s no surprise that many would like to be in the same club as Yui and Yukino… Hachiman too. Though many prefer the Service Club to only be comprised of its three members, as many think that any addition to the trio might ruin its harmony, it certainly did not stop fans for voting to want to join it.
K-On!’s Light Music Club meanwhile takes in 2nd place in the list, and proves that the boom in the interest in playing music introduced by the anime back in the 2000’s has not quite died down yet. Meanwhile, the majority of female voters have proven that many really want to join sports clubs, as NINE of the Top 20, including TWO in the Top 10, are all from Sports Clubs, with Haikyuu!!’s Karasuno High Volleyball Club taking the highest ranking number, in 3rd place, over the 4th place Iwatobi Swim team from Free!
