Good news Yowamushi Pedal fans, because the beloved cycling series is getting yet another anime movie, but this time, it’s going to be a prequel. The movie is titled Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike, and it will be split into two parts. One part will focus on Yuusuke Makishima, and the other on his rival, Jinpachi Toudou.
The first part, which is about Makishima, will tell of how he joined Sohoku’s cycling club and how he was looked down upon by his seniors. The second part, which is about Toudou, will follow him as a middle school student and how he got into cycling.
The film is set to premiere in Japan this September 9, 2016, and will once again be directed by Osamu Nabeshima. TMS Entertainment will once again be handling the animations.
