Shoko Nakagawa, also known to her fans as Shokotan, is a superstar back in Japan. She is also one huge geek, and is a fan of anime and games like Pokemon, Love Live!, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Free!. Recently, she was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch in a baseball game between the Softbank Hawks and Rakuten Eagles, and in typical Shokotan fashion, she showed up in cosplay as Dragon Quest’s Princess Alena.
The cosplay is actually her costume for a live-action Dragon Quest stage musical, Dragon Quest Live Spectacle Tour, which she is a part of. The actress/ singer/ illustrator/ voice actress/ cosplayer went into character during her pitch, and admitted that she had felt “twice the tension” because she was pitching as Princess Alena, and not as Shoko Nakagawa.
Shokotan is not only Princess Alena’s live-action actor, but she’s also her voice actress, as she has voiced the characterDragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest Heroes II.
The play will be held from 22nd July until 31st August, and will be touring five Japanese cities, Saitama, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and Yokohama. Check out the PV:
