If you haven’t heard yet, Overwatch has just revealed its latest hero, Ana Amari, Farah’s mother. Now, the game has been released in Japan, and has been localized for the Japanese market. This Japanese version also has a very good voice cast (you can check them out here: http://sgcafe.com/2016/05/videos-cant-get-enough-overwatch-check-japanese-voice-cast/), and like all the other heroes, Ana also got her own Japanese version, check her out:
Ana’s Japanese version is voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara, who is best known for voicing Gundam Z and Gundam ZZ’s villain, Haman Karn. The new hero is a 61-year old Egyptian woman, and while she is a sniper, she is not an Offense hero or a Defense Hero, but a Support Hero, who can heal her teammates with her Biotic Rifle. And like many moms out there, she can put her enemies to sleep. She can also pack a deadly wallop herself, because this grandma is no push-over.
In her story, Ana is one of the founding members of Overwatch, and when the organization was disbanded, she became a mercenary as she used her deadly sniping skills. However, an encounter with talon’s own deadly sniper, Widowmaker, has left her injured, and her daughter, Farah, taking her place to make justice rain from above. However, now she’s back, and she is ready for another round with Widowmaker. Check out her in-game Japanese voice lines in this video:
And just in case you want to check out her her English version, here’s her intro videos from Blizzard:
