It is revealed that filming will begin in 2017, with Universal Pictures distributing the movie outside of Japan. TOHO, which is a long-time collaborative partner for the Pokemon Company, will be distributing the film in Japan.

Also according to Variety, “The Pokemon deal was brokered by Don McGowan at The Pokémon Company International, who led the negotiations with outside counsel Dan Black of Greenberg Traurig. Marty Willhite, Daniel Feinberg and Mike Ross represented the studio.”

Not much information has been made about this upcoming “Detective Pikachu” movie, but more details, such as the actors, will surely be revealed in the days ahead.
