It’s finally February, which means it’s Wonder Festival weekend once again! Like previous Wonder Festival events, this one promises to hurt our wallets as well!
Some of the biggest figure companies in Japan have gathered inside Makuhari Messe in Chiba to show off their latest figures, as well as announce a few more upcoming ones. Let’s start with the company with the largest and most well-known display area in the event, Good Smile Company and their sister companies like Phat!, Freeing, Orange Rouge, Wing, and Max Factory. As expected, the largest wallet damage for many collectors came from their Wonderful Hobby Life For You 25 booth which showed of a plethora of figma, Nendoroids, scale figures, plastic models, and many more.
For Kotobukiya, Bandai, and Banpresto, turn to Page 2
Meanwhile, over at Kotobukiya’s display area, they featured plenty of new announcements for their various figure and plastic model lines, including Cu-Poche, FrameArms Girls, and Artfx.
Bandai and Banpresto also made an appearance during this year’s Winter WonFes. For bandai, they featured their usual plastic models while Banpresto offered up some prize figures.
For Alter, Kaiyodo, Megahouse, and Aquamarine, turn to Page 3
Alter is best known for their quality figures, and now, they have some pretty big announcements this WonFes that will surely make a lot of wallets bleed!
Without Kaiyodo, there won’t even be any WonFes, and they highlighted their display area with Godzilla, Ultraman, and many more!
And then there’s Megahouse which tried to appeal to both men and women with their own selection of figures and plastic models.
Aquamarine also showed a lot of wallet-damaging prowess as they showed off their own line of PlaMo and figures.
For Pul-Chra, X-Plus, Takara Tomy, Sega, and Aniplex, turn to Page 4
Pul-Chra also had some big figure announcements of their own, this time, mainly focusing on bishoujo figures.
Aniplex’s figure brand, Aniplex+, meanwhile revealed several more figures as well.
For their booth, X-Plus delved more into live-action and shounen anime for their figure announcements.
And finally, here are Takara Tomy and Sega’s presentations. Takara Tomy went with their usual mix of Western and Japanese figure announcements, while Sega featured several new prize figures, much like what Banpresto did.
So, are your wallets still alive after all of that?! Looks like collectors would be having an interesting few months… and then WonFes returns in July to make our wallets bleed again!
