The movie is based on Yoshitoki Ooima’s internationally popular romance drama about disability, bullying, and love. However, as soon as Nishimiya transfers, he himself gets isolated and the tables get turned as he is now the one getting bullied. He succumbs to depression, but his life changes as soon as he gets reunited with the deaf girl he once bullied…

The film has been nominated for several awards back in Japan, and even won the Excellent Animation of the Year award for the annual 40th Japan Academy Prize. The film stars Miyu Irino as Shouya Ishida, while Saori Hayami voices Shouko. K-On! and Tamako Market director, Naoko Yamada, directs the film.
