During Super Bowl LI, a new “Big Game Spot” video will be shown for the Hollywood live-action movie adaptation of the anime classic, Ghost in the Shell. Now, Paramount pictures has started streaming a new promotional video for the movie.
The anime-inspired Hollywood live-action movie premieres in Japan on April 7, 2017, which is just a week after its US release on March 31.
The film boasts an international cast which will make up Section 9. Ghost in the Shell original director and writer, Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex director and writer, Kenji Kamiya, and Ghost in the Shell musical composer, Kenji Kawai, previously visited the set and posed with the film’s stars, including Scarlett Johansson herself.
Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders is at the helm of the project as director, and DreamWorks Pictures producing the movie. DreamWorks executive and legendary director, Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, E.T., Indiana Jones) is a huge fan of the original anime movie and has wanted this project to be realized for a long time now, and with the filming of the classic manga already started, Spielberg is finally getting what he wants.
So what do you think of Scarlett Johansson possibly playing Motoko Kusanagi? Will this go the “Edge of Tomorrow” route and be a huge success, or will this go the “Dragon Ball Evolution” route and fail miserably? Only time will tell so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
