In anime, there may be some bad parents like Shou Tucker, Gendou Ikari, and Ragyou Kiryuin, but there are also some very good parents. For this week’s Charapedia poll, the Japanese anime character database asked 10,000 anime fans (54.8% male, 45.2% female) to vote for which parent-child pair in anime have the most ideal relationship.
A total of 65 sets of parents and children from various anime series were included in the poll. However, Charapedia only revealed the TOP 20, and they are:
20 – Soujirou and Konata Izumi (Lucky Star)
19 – Hideki and Goro Shigeno (Major)
18 – Nanoha and Vivio Takamachi (Lyrical Nanoha series)
17 – Souma and Jouichirou Yukihira (Shokugeki no Souma)
16 – Bakabon and his dad (Tensai Bakabon)
15 – Yousuke and Yotsuba Koiwai (Yotsuba&!)
14 – Kogoro and Ran Mouri (Detective Conan)
13 – Junko and Madoka Kaname (Madoka Magica)
12 – Yusaku and Shinichi Kudo (Detective Conan)
11 – Shiro Fujimoto and Rin Okumura (Blue Exorcist)
10 – Tsumugi and Kouhei Inuzuka
9 – Katsuo and Namihei Isono (Sazae-san)
8 – Vegeta and Trunks
7 – Isshin and Ichigo Kurosaki
6 – Naruto and Boruto Uzumaki
5 – Umibozu and Kagura (Gintama)

The relationship between Shinnosuke and Hiroshi Nohara may be a bit weird for comedic reasons, but fans still find that hilarious relationship ideal. Fans found it so ideal that it topped Minato’s relationship with Naruto, which featured a parent giving his life to save his child.
However, the biggest surprise is at #3, where Goku, who is more interested in training and fighting than raising his own son, placed higher than many great parent-child relationship. Let’s put it this way, “Uncle Piccolo” did a lot more in raising the poor kid than his father, who was either away training or is dead.
