GameStart 2016 is definitely leveling up and promises to be bigger this year

South East Asia’s largest gaming convention is back, and we are definitely excited for it! Last year was huge, and this year, they are certainly aiming for something bigger, as they promise more varied content than the previous years.

Much like last year, those who come early will get a special prize in the form of a goodie bag with random loot inside, which could include gaming tees & merchandise, or products from sponsors Seagate, Razer Armaggeddon, MSI, Ingram Micro Asia and more. These will be given to the first 300 visitors to show up for each day.

Another huge addition is that for the first time, Xbox will be participating in GameStart! They will be showcasing the Xbox One, as well as some of the consoles games like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Final Fantasy XV. They will also show off various Microsoft products and other Xbox merchandise.

And with Xbox making its first appearance, Sony will be going to the event as well, as they will be returning as a major sponsor, with the largest booth at the event. One of the highlights will be one of the hottest e-sports scenes on Earth, because for the first time, the event will be hosting the South East Asia Major! Some of the best players from around the world will be coming, including the legendary Daigo “The Beast” Umehara and Singaporean’s own Street Fighter prodigy, Ho Kun Xian, and they will be competing for a spot at the Capcom Cup 2016 Finals.

SEAM 2016 will also include other notable tournaments for Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, BlazBlue Central Fiction and the highly anticipated King of Fighters XIV, most of which are qualifiers to regional tournament finals in Japan and China. Street Fighter fans can also join the PS4 Street Fighter Asia Amateur Tournament, for a chance to win USD 3,000 cash. There will also be a Singapore qualifier tournament for Tekken 7, whose winner will advance to the King of the Iron Fist tournament in Japan this 10 December.

And of course, the annual FIFA tournament, the GameStart Championship Cup, is back, with support from Xbox Singapore, and prizes sponsored by GameStart, Xbox and Monitor Sponsor, ViewSonic. There will also be an Overwatch Champions Singapore Tournament, co-sponsored by Blizzard and Armageddon.

Bandai Namco Entertainment won’t just be hosting a Tekken 7 tourney, but they will also be showcasing other games like Tales of Berseria.

Meanwhile,  Fans who visit particular booth can get a chance to win Secret Lab gaming chairs, ViewSonic 27” monitors and MSI notebooks. They will need to visit specific booths to complete activities or quests to get the chance to win. According to GameStart Asia,

The Quest, presented by Armaggeddon, is also a great reason to check out the various merchandise

booths, such as local retailer TOG (Toy or Game), Secret Lab, Armaggeddon, Liongeeks and Xmashed

Gear, who will be unveiling new gaming tee designs at the event. Fans of game art will have plenty of

eye candy at the Ubisoft Singapore art exhibition and Doujin Market, which will feature 26 artists from

Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The Main Stage also hosts a varied array of content this year, including a Dungeons & Dragons session

run by notable Singaporean indie developers, a panel on the gaming ecosystem in Singapore, music

performances and live drawing demos.
