Japanese animation studio, Seven, has announced that they will be adapting Alice Soft’s highly popular adult visual novel (eroge) into an anime. The announcement came via a NicoNico Douga live broadcast where they featured several artworks from the upcoming anime.
Rance has been considered the longest-running eroge ever as it was introduced in 1989 and then it spawned 10 other games. This new anime adaptation could introduce the series to more mainstream viewers as it has done for other eroge titles like White Album and of course, the most popular eroge-turned anime out there, Fate/ Stay Night.
The anime could most likely be ecchi given Rance’s reputation though. The anime will be produced by Studio Seven which is known for series like Strange +, Ai Mai Mi, Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, and Recorder & Randsell.
