Gosho Aoyama’s Magic Kaito gets anime adaptation, airs in October

Magic Kaito, a Weekly Shonen Sunday manga by Detective Conan author Gosho Aoyama, gets a TV anime adaptation. The series will start airing this October in Japan. A-1 Pictures is behind the animation production.


This manga was serialised way back in 1987 and has a total of four volumes. Previously, it had a 12-episode special which began airing in April 2010. Kaito, the main protagonist, has also appeared in Detective Conan several times.

Here’s how its story goes: Kaito Kuroba is an ordinary teenage boy who discovers that his late father is the well-known International Criminal 1412: the Phantom Thief. His father refused to help a mysterious organization in obtaining the Pandora Gem which gives immortality. To prevent the organization from gaining its power, he assumes his father’s secret identity and goes on a quest to get the gem.
