The sword boys are finally getting their own TV anime called Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, and fans are finally getting a taste of what the anime will look like, as TOHO Animation has just started streaming its very first PV, which introduces us to the anime’s two main characters, Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu.
The video reveals that the anime will be set in the future, in the year 2205, where so-called “Historical Revisionists” are attacking in their quest to change history, and only the “Touken Danshi,” those who are swords who have been imbued with life, can stop them. Here is the anime’s new visual:
Based on DMM and Nitroplus’s PC browser game, Touken Ranbu, which is considered to be the Kantai Collection counterpart for women, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru is slated to premiere in October 2016. The anime will be produced by ufotable.
Like Kantai Collection, the game is distributed by DMM, and co-produced along with Nitroplus. The game was launched back in early 2015 and has become a huge hit as an internet browser game, much like Kantai Collection.
