Upsets everywhere as the 40th Kodansha Manga Awards" winners are announced

The Kodansha Manga Awards are some of the most prestigious awards in the manga industry, and this year’s edition is certainly one of them. Several big names have been included in the nominees are titles like ERASED, Ajin, Seraph of the End, Noragami, and many others, however, did they win? The winners have now been officially announced by Kodansha, and they are:


BEST SHOUNEN MANGA: “DAYS” by Tsuyoshi Yasuda

defeated other nominees:

Seraph of the End, Noragami, and My Hero Academia.


BEST SHOUJO MANGA: “Kiss Him, Not Me” by Junko

defeated other nominees:

Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai, Say “I love you”., Nijiiro Days, and First Love Monster.


BEST GENERAL MANGA: Kounodori by Yuu Suzunoki

defeated other nominees:

Ajin – Demi-Human, Golden Kamuy, Tokyo Tarareba Musume, and Boku dake ga Inai Machi/ ERASED


Well, those certainly are huge upsets given the popularity of some of the other nominees like ERASED and Seraph of the End.


For last year’s awards, Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins and Wataru Watanabe’s Yowamushi Pedal manga won the Best Shounen Manga award, Tsunami Umino’s Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu manga won the Best Shoujo Manga award, and Tsutomu Nihei’s Knights of Sidonia manga won the Best General Manga award.
