One Piece to have a 2-hour special episode slated for late August

The anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s best selling manga series, One Piece is now celebrating its 15th anniversary, and it has just been announced that a special 2-hour episode will be aired in Japan as part of the celebrations.

The 15th Anniversary 2-hour special is titled One Piece 3D2Y Ace no Shi wo Koete! Luffy Nakama tono Chikai! and is set two years after Luffy’s training with Rayleigh Silvers on Rusukaina Island and the death of his brother, Ace. The special episode will also introduce a new original character designed by Eiichiro Oda himself, Burn D. World, the Destroyer of Worlds as well as the Devil Fruit known as Moamoa. In the special, Luffy must protect Boa Hancock against an escaped inmate from Level 6 of Impel Down.


The episode is scheduled to be aired on August 30, 2014 in Japan and will be shown by Fuji TV.
