Char Aznable has recently met with his fans in a handshake meeting to promote the latest volume of the Char no Nichijou (The Daily Life of Char) manga. In relation to that handshake meeting, the official Gundam website, Gundam.info has asked fans which female character from the entire Gundam franchise would they want to shake hands with the most.
With a total of 5,823 votes which were gathered from the period of June 23- 29, 2014, here are the official results:
9) Meer Campbell (Gundam SEED Destiny) – 2.6%
8) Kirara (Gundam Build Fighters) – 3.2%
7) Diana Soreil (Turn A Gundam) – 4.2%
6) Relena Darlian/ Peacecraft – 4.5%
5) Cecily Fairchild (Gundam F-91) – 4.8%
4) Marina Ismail (Gundam 00) – 7.6%
3) Mineva Lao Zabi/ Audrey Burne (Gundam, Gundam Zeta, Gundam ZZ, Gundam UC) – 16.1%
2) Haman Karn (Gundam Zeta, Gundam ZZ) – 25.8%
1) Lacus Clyne (Gundam SEED, Gundam SEED Destiny) – 31.3%
In a poll which included princesses and idols, the one taking the top spot is none other than the “Pink Princess” and idol singer, Lacus Clyne whose victory may or may not come as a surprise as she is often considered one of the most popular Gundam heroines out there.
Taking the #2 spot is the charismatic leader of Neo Zeon, Haman Karn, the main villain in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. She beats the Zeon princess she is sworn to protect, Mineva Zabi by almost a 10% margin.
Taking into consideration that the female characters included are either of nobility, royalty, or pop idols, some female characters have been missed out like Sayla Mass from Mobile Suit Gundam (though she is royalty herself), Christina Mackenzie from War in the Pocket, Elpeo Ple/ Puru from Gundam ZZ, and of course, Sei’s mom herself, Rinko Iori from Gundam Build Fighters.
Now which female Gundam character do you want to meet and shake hands with?
